Abstract

The purpose of the report is to assess the environmental and social impacts associated with the dam
and powerplant component, which is one of a number of component which make up the Rusumo Falls
Hydroelectric Project (see §1.1.2 below). It should be noted that the assessment of the
Transmission Lines component are not included in this report and an ESIA and Resettlement Action
Plan (RAP) for the Transmission Lines has been issued as a separate report.
